How long are the appointments?

The first consultation will take 45 minutes, where your physiotherapist will perform a thorough assessment to work out what is going on in the body. Appointments following that will be 30 minutes in duration.

What to expect

  • All our consultations are done in 1-1 private treatment rooms.
  • You should also expect that your physiotherapist will provide a combination of hands-on manual therapy and exercise prescription.
  • We have a pilates reformer at the clinic, where the physiotherapist may show you exercises to perform on, if he/she finds that you would benefit from it.
  • We do not use any electrophysical modalities (e.g. TENS, Ultrasound, Laser etc.) in our treatments. This is because there is limited evidence to support the use of these.

I have seen other physios before. How are you different from them?

The difference is our physiotherapists perform a very thorough assessment the first time you come in. We look at 3 systems in the body in particular:
  • Muscles
  • Joints
  • Nerves
Usually when there is something going on in the body, it'll come from one of the three above, or a combination of those. If our physiotherapists are able to have a clear idea of what is going on, we should be able to manage your condition quite well. We don't like to treat blindly.

Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?

No. Physiotherapists in Australia are first-contact practitioners, which means you do not need a referral to see one of us.

Do you treat WorkCover or Compulsory Third Party (CTP) patients?

img_faqYes we do. Please have details of your Referring Doctor, Case Manager and Medical Certificate with you.

Can I claim a rebate from my private health insurance?

Yes, you are able to claim your rebate on the spot. Please check with your private health insurer whether your insurance covers you for Physiotherapy.

I have a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan [formerly Enhanced Primary Care or EPC] from my GP. How does this help?

Your GP must provide you with a CDM plan if you would like to receive a Medicare rebate. Your GP makes the clinical judgment as to whether he/she thinks you will benefit from a multidisciplinary team care approach. If you already have a CDM plan in place, this means that your GP has planned and coordinated other healthcare providers (e.g. physiotherapist) to help assist your chronic condition (ongoing for more than 6 months). The CDM plan will entitle you to up to 5 Medicare rebate per calendar year.

We will process the full payment, and then give you the rebate back into your savings account. Please bring in the following to your appointment:

  • Details of your GP
  • Your CDM plan
  • Your Medicare card
  • Your savings card so the rebate goes directly into your savings account

What should I prepare/bring before having my first consultation?

Here is a list of things to prepare before your first consultation. It is not necessary but will make your experience and the assessment phase more effective.
  • Arrive 10 minutes before your first consultation to fill in your personal details and to complete a checklist which will help you and your physiotherapist better understand your condition and your goals for physiotherapy.
  • Wear appropriate clothing for easy access and viewing to the affected region of the body such as a shirt/singlet and shorts.
  • Bring any X-ray, scans or any medical reports. This is not compulsory or required if you do not have any of these.
  • List of any medications you are taking for your condition.
  • Have your doctor's details with you.
